  • Primary Care Management in an Influenza Pandemic (pdf,399kb)                                                           This document is a comprehensive guideline and information resource for General Practice in the preparation and planning for an influenza pandemic, and the management of patients during a pandemic.
  • Pandemic Influenza Mental Health Guidelines (pdf, 122kb)
    This appendix to the South Australian Pandemic Influenza Department of Health Operational Plan addresses how Mental Health Services (MHS) will respond to situations as they relate to pandemic influenza. 
  • Pandemic Influenza Vaccination Plan (pdf, 295kb)
    The aim of the South Australian Mass Pandemic Influenza vaccination plan is to seamlessly deliver mass vaccination in the event of an influenza pandemic. The South Australia Pandemic Influenza Vaccination Plan is designed to be flexible to appropriately respond to the unpredictable nature of the disease. It should complement the local, regional and organisational plans developed across South Australia.

    This Annex provides information on the use of antiviral agents to be used for pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis during a Pandemic. As new evidence is gathererd both medical and scientific information for the use of antiviral drugs may vary.  Therefore this Annex is a living document
  • Patient Service Provision Transport (SAAS) (pdf, 125kb)
    SAAS is licensed under the Ambulance Services Act 1992 Sect 11 to provide ambulance services of a high quality, wherever they may be required in the State. SAAS is nominated by the State Emergency Management Plan, formed under the Emergency Management Act 2004, as the functional service for Ambulance and First Aid.     
  • Respiratory Virus Specimen Collection (pdf, 488kb) 
    Laboratory identification of respiratory viruses depends crucially on the collection of high-quality specimens. To maximise test sensitivity the IMVS recommends collection of both a deep nasal swab and a throat swab during the first three days after the onset of clinical symptoms.  
  • South Australia's Department of Health Pandemic Influenza Operational Plan (pdf, 344kb)
    South Australia has updated its operational planning for the management of pandemic influenza, contributing to the draft Australian Government revised edition of The Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza (AHMPI), this plan focuses on SA specific issues.
